Here’s the monthly edition of “Where Bloggers Live” and today I’m pretty sure it’s about our favorite birthday. So, I’ve had a LOT of birthdays – and I have posted about my “Birthday Surprise” in the past – so I’m including part of that in this one – along with my last birthday. Be sure to check out the rest of the group (links at the end of the post) as I’m sure they will be a lot more interesting than I am.
So, here goes my most memorable Birthday – my 50th (and that was a LONG time ago). You can read the full post about it if you’d like. Birthdday Surprise. Here’s a pretty good picture from the original post (obviously doesn’t look anything like me now.
So, then there’s my last birthday – which was less than a month ago – and I had a pretty good surprise for that one too. All four of my children (plus one grandson) managed to be here. Now 3 of my kids (well, they’re not kids anymore) live close to me, but the 4th one is in Texas and I don’t get to see him very often.
The local kids had all gotten me something over the weekend – flannel to make pillow cases, flowers, candy, balloons, etc. So Saturday morning I was sitting in the living room drinking my coffee and #1 son (who lives next door now – and thinks his job is to take care of me) comes in (through the garage & kitchen) stops behind where I’m sitting and says: “I brought you a birthday present”.
I replied: “You already gave me a birthday present.”
He says: “But you’ll like this one better.”
I turned around and there was my Texas son. (#1 son is still standing behind)
My birthday was on a Monday and they told me they were taking me to Wentzels (my favorite restaurant) on Sunday afternoon for a birthday dinner. It was great – all 4 of my children and one grandson. One of my daughter-in-laws was sick and couldn’t go, but the rest of us had a great time.
So yes, now I’m an old lady. Am I doing to change my profile picture? NO! I don’t want to look THAT old.
Okay, that’s it for me… be sure to check out everyone else.

What great kids you have raised. It is because you and Chuck were such loving, devoted parents that your ‘babies’ turned out to be that way, too. What a wonderful surprise to have Texas son home to celebrate with you. I don’t know Wentzels but I hope you enjoyed a few of your favorite things to eat for your birthday meal. You and Chuck sure made a handsome couple. You both look like Hollywood stars in that earlier birthday photo. Quite glamorous and chic. But Iris, you are absolutely beautiful now. I like the birthday picture of you so much… Read more »
Oh my goodness Leslie, you just made my day. What lovely compliments. As you can see, I haven’t been writing much lately – not much energy, not much going on in my life, etc. etc. I’ll try and do better. Must tell you, Wentzels is an “oyster house” – the original one is still in Mobile, AL and Chuck and I went there MANY years ago. I was so excited when they put one in my hometown – I love fried oysters and their’s is the best. I was definitely surprised to have my Texas son visit for my birthday.… Read more »

I do have great kids – and they’re always doing something for me. I’m very blessed in that category.
