About

Hi – My name is Iris…..
I’m seriously older than dirt. I’m a widow and mother of 4+2 wonderful grown children, 8+7 even more wonderful grandchildren PLUS 5 adorable great-grandchidren with another on the way.  I’ve finally retired and am excited about being able to devote more time to my blog and my cross stitch.

I love….
God, my kids, grandkids & great-grandkids, my church, my little pomapoo dog, tiny poodle dogs, my cat, animals in general, counted cross stitch, fancy Barbie doll outfits, diamonds, sparkly things, a cool fall day, and a lot of other things I can’t think of right now – exccept coffee – I can always think of coffee.

Health….
…..Breast cancer survivor 🙂  Unfortunately I’m currently experiencing some problems with my heart 😨   Per doctor’s instructions striving for less stress in my life so am cutting back on a number of things.

I live….
….in rural north Alabama, with my sweet Koda (pomapoo), an indoor cat, wild deer, possums, raccoons, coyotes, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, various other critters, and an occasional visit from a neighbor’s peacock (boy is he noisey).

Counted cross stitch….
…has been in my life for 40 plus years and I’m totally addicted. I’ve designed many of my own charts over the years and I designed my first chart to sell in 2011. My charts are available wholesale to shops at ICG Crafts or retail at my online shop Iris Originals.

Barbie fashions….
I’ve been sewing for almost 80 years (told you I was old) and have always loved the beautiful Barbie outfits. SO, several years ago, my late husband encouraged me to go back to making them. I still have fun with that though the counted cross stitch designing takes up most of my time these days. And, I can use dressing the Barbies up for photos as an excuse to play with them 🙂 Due to a recent website snafu (on my part), there are no Barbie fashions in my store – but that will happen at some point.

Smoke free home….
No smoking here, however Pets abound, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

AND Coffee….
Yes, I am a “coffeeholic”. Many of my cross stitch charts revolve around coffee, kids give me coffee mugs and cute signs, so….. stop by anytime, the coffee pot is always on!!
