This edition is “Makeup, Beauty, Skincare” – most of the things I totally ignore these days.
That surely hasn’t always been the case in my life. I was actually a “Beauty Consultant” in an almost past life. I sold make-up for “Fashion 220” (and yes, I checked, they’re still around – more or less).
They sent me to New York to attend a class on how to use make-up. It was taught by a Hollywood make-up artist (who’s name I don’t remember). Not only did I learn a great deal about make-up, how to apply it, and how to wear it to enhance your appearence – I got to do a lot of sightseeing in New York (my first visit there). My husband went with me and we rode the train from Alabama to New York – and that was an experience in itself. I wish I had pictures of that trip, but alass – no.
Going through some really old photos, I found two that look just a ‘smidge different’ from my appearance today. Laugh if you must – I had a head full of long red hair – and don’t even resemble the person I am today. These pictures were made in 1969 (another lifetime), and now you’re going to wonder – “who is that person???”!! But yes! It is me – or rather WAS me!
I haven’t dabbled in make-up or “beauty” in a very long time. I don’t have nice thick hair, I don’t have any eyebrows, I don’t have any eyelashes – so it woud be a bit more difficult today. Breast cancer, chemo and Arimidex (the Arimidex was for 5 years) took car of all of that. But, I’m alive – even if I look a bit different. I do still use a nice face cream that I buy from a private seller on Etsy – that’s homemade with Goat milk.
SO, that’s it for me – not much to see… but you’ll find more interesting info if you check out the links of the rest of the group.

Wow!! Beautiful now, beautiful then. You are really a lovely, lovely woman. I would like to see some recent photos as I am going on the profile picture above. But you have very pretty hair and that same pretty coloring/complexion you had as a girl learning how to apply makeup. The eyes are the very same. Cannot imagine that train ride. How many days? I guess it was straight through so probably only a 30+- hours maybe but what an adventure. You know, I am writing a short story/picture book about a grandma (me) whose granddaughter wants to erase all… Read more »
You guys have surely made me feel a lot better looking than I am now (for sure). But, I don’t think you really want to see recent photos of me – certainly look nothing like the person in the pictures here. My hair is a mess – my face is a mess. The profile picture was made in 2019 (still a lot later than the pictures in this post), but when you’re my age, a lot can change in 6 years. Thanks for the nice comment.

Wow, I loved that you shared those older photos. Truly stunning. Times change and so do our habits and such. It’s nice to have the memories and to enjoy what you have now.
XOXO
Jodie
Well, they’re definitely OLD. And, times do change. “Stunning”?? Thank you!
Iris
Iris! You look like a Bond Girl. And, yes, I can still see it in you now. I love that y’all rode a train — that’s on my bucket list, a train trip.
Oh my – you can still see it in me??? Now, that’s definitely a compliment, and I appreciase it! The train ride was definitely interesting.
Iris
Whoa! Iris! You’re a stunner! I definitely would have taken makeup advice from you!
You guys are too nice! I did look drastically different back in those days, but I surely never considered myself a “stunner”! Love the comment though.
Iris
Quite the babe, Iris! 👀
Whatever you were selling, I’d have bought it!
(“Alive” certainly does trump all of that, although IMHO you’re just in a different beauty era. It all still works, it’s just a different flavor.)
It must’ve been cool to know all the techniques, though. Throughout my journey, I have never figured out the subtlety required, nor have I ever been patient enough to do all the things. I see some amazing transformation videos of people, but I often wonder if, when you see them in person, to they just look like layers of shiny paint.
Oh, you’re being too nice. I did learn a lot on with that company – sadly I don’t remember most of it – and I rarely even wear make-up these days. But, thank you for the lovely comment.
