This is the monthly edition of “Where Bloggers Live” and today it’s “my best gift”. Now, for me that’s a really difficult topic. I’ve been fortunate and received many, many wonderful gifts over my long life, and choosing the best has been quite a challenge.
Of course, my family is about my very best gift. I had great parents, a loving husband (who’s been gone many years now), four great children, eight wonderful grand children, and now six (with another on the way) great-grandchildren. What better gifts in the world could beat those.
But, I guess since it’s about Christmas time, I guess we’re talking about a gift wrapped gift. My husband was an expert in gift giving, he always found things that he knew I’d like. So, here’s that one gift that stood out from the rest. A mink coat! He knew I loved fur and I can tell you I was TOTALLY surprised the year that was my Christmas gift.
And there’s one picture taken at my church one cold morning with my grandson who lived with me his last year of college.
Needless to say, if it gets cold enough – I’ll be wearing it!!!
Be sure and check out my fellow bloggers, I’m sure they’ll have great gifts to share.

WOW! What a beautiful coat!! What a lovely surprise that must’ve been!
Dan and I were chatting all week about this topic in much more philosophical terms, very similarly to you what you noted… our family is a gift…all the things God has given us, etc… It was a nice week just talking about the topic.
But, I have to say…Dan could put a mink on my list any day!
Whoa! A mink coat! Such a beautiful gift. I love the color — just perfect.
What a beautiful coat. And it complements you so well. I am sure it feels like wearing a portable hug. A hug from your beloved husband. I had a blue faux fur coat that I loved as a pre-teen. Mostly for its ability to hide my changing teen-aged body and embarrassingly large breasts. I wore it day and night for months. Such coats are back in style and I would love to get one this winter to hide my changing grandmotherly body!! You have been so blessed in the gift of family. I am thankful you have shared yourself and… Read more »
OMG, that coat is amazing. But you’re right…it’s all about the people first and foremost.
XOXO

Thanks Jodie for reading and commenting. I do love my coat, but not as much as my family. Merry Christmas to you.

Fur is one of those love it/hate it things, so it’s great that your husband was 100% correct about how this gift would be received! It looks so luxurious.
I guess fur is love it/hate it – I’ve always loved it and I still appreciate my husband’s thoughtfulness. Thanks for the comment, have a Merry Christmas.

That’s lovely that when you thought of gifts, you thought of your family. You’re such a good person, Iris. Unlike me, ha ha, who is all about THE STUFF!!!
I know, right? That answer puts all others to shame.
🙂
You’re too funny. I love ‘stuff’ too, but my family comes firsts. Thanks for reading and commenting. Merry Chritsmas
