White Skunk

I wrote about this white skunk (or “a” white skunk – might not have been the same one) in April of 2019 – that’s 3+ years ago.  And I was astonished to see one again this morning.  I don’t know if it’s the same one or not – google says their average life span is 2-3 years in the wild and 15 in captivity.  Well, this one’s definitely not a captive, but while part of my yard is pretty grown up – it’s not what I would consider wild.

As before, I wasn’t fast enough to get a picture as my phone was all the way across the house from the window I was looking out.  But, he (or she) was gorgeous!!!

I believe from my searching this is considered a “hooded skunk” (Mephitis macroura) and he was really ‘fluffy’ looking.

I found a gazillion pictures online of the hooded skunk – but none were as close to mine as this one.  I hope he hangs around.
